ABOUT THIS COUNTRY
Full of rich traditions, Japan has a long history stretching back to 660 BCE. Because 81% of land in Japan is either mountains or used for agriculture, cities tend to have high population concentrations. Japan is very famous for its unique cuisine, which is a result of a culture of perfection both in terms of taste and presentation of food. Every year across the country, there are more than 200,000 local festivals, many of which have been celebrated for more than 800 years. No matter where you go or when, there is always something to do in Japan!

FIRST YEAR EXPERIENCE - FYE
An impactful learning experience for a cohort of your college freshmen that also supports their transition from high school to college. Custom-created just for your students and institution, EdOdyssey offers domestic and international FYE options that range from one week to an entire semester. Through our academic partner Kansai Gaidai, your students can take valid courses in your institution, while participating in EdOdyssey’s immersion activities throughout the semester.

CUSTOM PROGRAMS
EdOdyssey’s custom short-term programs in Japan are designed to give students an immersive and genuine experience in a short period of time. Following your school’s learning objectives, we create an itinerary that delivers the best possible immersion experience. We first review your learning outcomes, logistical needs, and goals for the experience. We will then translate all of the information that you give us into a great experiential learning opportunity for your students.

Trips are executed year-round. Exact dates are tailored to your availability, budget, and academic calendar. Most of our custom programs are 8 - 12 days, but can range from 1 - 4 weeks in length.

Lodging, tuition, transportation in-country, meals, and activities.

Popular destinations include places like Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara. However, your program’s destination can be tailored to your leader’s area of expertise or interest to places like Okinawa, Fukuoka, all the way up to Akita and Sapporo.
SEMESTER STUDY ABROAD
Our semester study abroad program in Japan allows students to live in-country for a semester or for one year, taking courses at our partner university Seinan Gakuin University in Fukuoka, Japan. Coupled with immersion activities, a buddy program, and documentary-like excursions, we have a program that will fully immerse students into Japanese culture.

Open to university and college students that are at least sophomores with a 2.8 GPA or higher.

Airport Pickup and transfer, tuition, housing, a bedding pack, public transportation IC cards, transportation during orientations and excursions, luggage forwarding from Tokyo to Fukuoka, international health & emergency insurance, and comprehensive support from staff in-country.
In addition to all the program inclusions by the university (cultural activities, local excursions, etc.), EdOdyssey also includes:
Three days of a special welcome orientation in Hakone and transportation to Fukuoka.
A mid-semester weekend excursion to a hot springs town.
An end-of-semester retreat to Mount Koya.
